Method
Massage can be soothing for babies, children and adults.
To massage a baby; Use light to moderate pressure applied with the pads of your fingers, not the entire palm of your hand. Remember to keep your baby cozy by turning up the heat in the room and using a soft towel to cover exposed skin.
Ideally massage straight after a bath in preparation for bedtime.
Start with the lower body and do long smooth strokes up bubs legs.
Massage from ankle up to thigh and over hip.
Massage both legs at once or one at a time.
For the feet massage do firm gentle slow strokes from heel to toe.
Proceed to upper body massage with your hands on baby’s shoulders. Make gentle strokes in towards the chest.
Massage baby’s arms by stroking from the shoulders down towards the wrists.
If baby’s tummy feels soft, massage his belly with circular, clockwise strokes.
To massage the face stroke from the middle of the forehead down the outside of the bubs face and towards cheeks. Massage scalp in small circles.
