What is Sustainable Farming?
Sustainable farming is the production of food (in our case delicious almonds) using farming techniques that protect the environment, public health and animal welfare.
This form of agriculture is conscious of our impact on Earth.
We are working to continually improve our sustainable practices and make our business more environmentally sustainable in the long term.
Our Almonds are not fumigated; instead we use freezers after harvesting to manage any potential unwanted pests making them safer & tastier for our customers.
We currently have solar panels installed on our sorting and packing facility. This helps to run our cold rooms, electricity & equipment. By going solar, we have reduced demand for fossil fuels, limit greenhouse gas emissions, and shrink our carbon footprint.
As a value add manufacturer, we are conscious of food waste & packaging.
For our online store we recycle our boxes and use Bio Fill; a 100% Biodegradable loose fill packaging material that fills empty spaces within a box. It is made from Australian corn and potato starch. When immersed in water it dissolves with no harmful residue, and can be disposed of with compost or rubbish as it completely breaks down.
We also use a sustainable, biodegradable, and recyclable alternative to traditional bubble wrap. Geami Paper is a climate neutral and recyclable.
We are working towards offering you greener packaging alternatives & production methods.
As a primary producer we are conscious of precious resources and being an ethical food producer.
Any almond product that we can not manufacture into food, is pressed into our beautiful 100% Pure Almond skincare oil. This reduces our farm & manufacturing food product waste and makes our business more sustainable long term.
